THE AM OPINION – IZOTE

You may have come across people who vigorously follow one passion all the time. But, it is nothing unusual to see some who have equal passion for more than one thing at any given point of time in their lives. Take the example of Patricia Quintana, a teacher by profession and also the author of a number of Mexican cookbooks, who extended her passion for cooking by opening her first and only eatery named “Izote “ in Mexico City, nine years ago. She has succeeded in popularizing some of the exotic dishes of Mexican origin, by being a little more imaginative and innovative. If one wants to please his or her guests with Mexican cuisine, this would be the right place and your guests may give vent to their taste buds trying out of the variations of tequila, mescal and wine.

Though some critics opine that the lighting in the restaurant could be a little more subtle and less bright, considering the white walls, followed by some strong objection that the staff tend to be a little lax especially when Quintana is not present, it is made by the regular streaming in of noted celebrities and the delectable food too for those who have a palate and the money for such food, manage to provide the balancing act. The secret behind the exquisite cuisine happens to be the fact that Quintana excels in giving delicate touches to them trying out different exclusively local flavors. The way she coverts common dishes – available anywhere in Mexico – into uncommon deserves every praise. Even her desserts have a local feel to them. Next time when you tour Mexico City, do not forget to pay a visit to Izote, and experience luxury of her trying Quintana’s sumptuous savories.
